Admission to Surgery Department
Admission to the Surgery Department may be planned or emergency. Elective admission is carried out after consultation with a surgeon in admission-consulting room 012 on the ground floor of the hospital. Consulting Room on duty at level -1 shall be used for emergency admission at night, during weekends, or during a holiday.
Elective admission
Elective admission to the Department is carried out after consultation with a surgeon in the admission-consulting room 012 on the ground floor of Nadezhda Hospital.
- On the day appointed for elective admission, it is advisable to be at the said office at 08:00 o’clock. Please be advised that you are not supposed to take any food or liquid, as the blood tests necessary for the surgery would be taken the same day.
- If on the day of your appointment you are due to have an anaesthetic procedure, you should stop the intake of food and liquids since the evening of the previous day.
- On the day of admission, you will be scheduled for blood tests and consultations – lung x-ray, abdominal ultrasound, electrocardiogram, examination by an internal medicine specialist, and consultation with an anaesthesiologist. Depending on the specific case, your surgeon may also recommend a consultation with another specialist. Please note that no tests or consultations are necessary prior to admission, unless your surgeon prescribes otherwise during the initial examination.
Admission checklist
It is mandatory to bring the following documents with you to the hospital upon admission:
- ID (ID card or passport)
- Hospitalization referral No. 7, issued by a GP or specialist (for those admitted under the NHIS)
- Prescription booklet (if you have one)
- Personal outpatient card (for issuance of a sick note)
- Personal belongings – toiletries
- Medical records relating to your illness
Nadezhda Hospital has a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and when insured patients are admitted, all necessary examinations for the respective clinical pathway are performed at Nadezhda Hospital. Uninsured patients, or patients in need of treatment for conditions or diseases not covered by the Health Insurance Fund, shall be treated and shall pay for their treatment as per the hospital’s price list.

Emergency admission
Consulting room 012 is used for emergency admission during office hours. Upon arrival, please inform the Registry Department staff, and they will direct you to the admission consulting room and will notify the physicians on duty of your arrival.
Consulting Room on duty at level -1 shall be used for emergency admission at night, during weekends or on a holiday. You can access it through an entrance from the hospital parking area.
