Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Baturov
The professional career of Associate Professor Baturov began as a resident doctor and head of department at the State Psychiatric Hospital – Radnevo. In the period between 1998 and 2005, he worked at the Centre of Military Psychology and Psychoprophylaxis at the Ministry of Defence, and from 2005-2020, he was the Head of the Department of Military Medical Expertise of Mental Diseases and Drug Addictions at the Central Military Medical Commission – Military Medical Academy, Sofia. After 2009, he became an Assistant Professor at the Private Higher School – College of Tourism – Blagoevgrad. In 2013, he obtained the educational and scientific degree of PhD, and in 2017, he was awarded the academic position Associate Professor. From 2007 to 2019, he was a consultant psychiatrist at the National Centre for Radiobiology and Radiation Protection at the Ministry of Health – Sofia.
His post-graduate qualifications include WHO training courses on psychiatric issues; long – term specialization at Sofia Medical University and at St. Naum Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Neurology and Psychiatry, Sofia – specialized clinic in forensic psychiatry and forensic psychology.
He is a co-founder and Secretary of the Bulgarian Association of Aviation, Maritime and Aerospace Medicine and representative in the working group on psychiatry in the European Society of Aerospace Medicine (ESAM).
From 2005 to 2011, he was the founder and chairman of the board of the “Association of Bulgarian Forensic Psychiatrists and Psychologists”; member of the Bulgarian Psychiatric Association, member of the Bulgarian Medical Association. Author and co-author of 9 monographs (4 of them as a solo author, and 5 as a co–author). He has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
