Assoc. Prof. Georgi Grigorov

Assoc. Prof. Georgi Grigorov is the Head of the Surgery Department at Nadezhda Hospital and a specialist with over 30 years of experience in the field of general, abdominal, thoracic, and vascular surgery. He specializes in bloodless (laparoscopic) abdominal and colorectal surgery, and in the application of laser therapy in proctology. He has completed specializations in minimally invasive abdominal and colorectal surgery at leading surgical centres in Europe – the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg and the University Clinic in Tübingen, Germany, as well as in VAC – therapy in Vienna. He has more than 100 publications and contributions in prestigious medical journals, conferences, and congresses in Bulgaria and worldwide. His professional interests are in the field of acute pancreatitis, surgical sepsis, trauma, laparoscopic and open visceral (abdominal), vascular and thoracic surgery, hard – to – heal wounds, laser proctology, hernial surgery. Associate Professor Grigorov graduated from Sofia Medical Academy in 1985. For the next 3 years he worked as a surgeon at the Surgical Department of Ruse District Municipal Hospital. From 1989 untill the end of 2015, he was deputy head of the II Surgical Clinic of N. I. Pirogov Multiprofile University Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine. Since January 2016 he has been the head of the Surgery Department at the Nadezhda Hospital. In 2008, Associate Professor Grigorov defended a PhD thesis and in 2015 he obtained a certificate for the academic position of “Associate Professor” in the scientific specialty “General Surgery”. He is a founder and regular member of EATES (now ESTES – European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery), and many Bulgarian and international associations of surgeons. ESTES, ISS, IATSIC, EDS, IASGO. He is a medical consultant and lecturer in the treatment of hard – to – heal wounds.
