Assoc. Prof. Krasimira Hristova

Associate Professor Krasimira Hristova is a cardiologist and expert in echocardiography at the National Cardiology Institute and a consultant in cardiology at Nadezhda Hospital. She has a PhD on the application of new echocardiographic methods for the assessment of myocardial deformation in patients after acute myocardial infarction.

 

Associate Professor Hristova has specialized in prestigious universities in Austria and in Belgium. She has successfully defended a Master’s Degree Thesis in Advance Medical Imaging in Cardiology at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2009. She participated in the development and clinical application of the first three-dimensional myocardial deformation software, with a team from Belgium and Norway. She has authored many scientific papers. She received the Young Investigator Award of the International Hypertension Association in 2006 and has received numerous awards from national and international organizations. She was a Secretary of the Echocardiography Working Group of the Society of Cardiologists in Bulgaria from 2010 to 2014. She is currently the President of the Echocardiography Working Group of the Society of Cardiologists in Bulgaria. She is a board member of the European Association of Echocardiography, board member of the scientific committee of the American Society of Echocardiography. She was the President of the VII World Forum on Cardiovascular Diseases and Clinical Nutrition, which was held in Sofia on October 21-23, 2013. She was elected President of the International College of Cardiology from 2013 to 2015 and President of the International College of Nutrition for 2016.

 

In December 2013 she became a member of the Board of Directors of the World Hypertension League, and she is still a member of it to this day.

She is a visiting lecturer at Creighton University – Omaha, Nebraska, USA and since September 2015 a visiting professor at Creighton University – Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

 

She has been a honorary member of International Academy of Comparative Science, USA since 2015.

 

Associate Professor Hristova is a member of editorial boards of national and international medical journals.
