Prof. Dr. Stefka Petrova

Prof. Dr. Stefka Petrova graduated in Medicine from the Medical University of Sofia. She holds two medical specialties – Nutrition and Dietetics and Toxicology. She has completed postgraduate training in the USA, UK, Italy, Germany, and other countries.
She provides consultations on healthy and therapeutic nutrition and develops individualized dietary plans and menus tailored to the needs of people of all ages, including those with specific health conditions. She is an expert in pediatric nutrition and carries out dietary therapy for infants and young children. She also works with pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Prof. Petrova is the author of the national dietary guidelines for women before and during pregnancy and lactation and is a member of the World Early Nutrition Expert Group, which focuses on nutrition from conception onwards. She is a principal author of national guidelines for healthy eating at different ages, including infants and young children, and has developed a modern 90-day program for healthy weight reduction.
For 25 years, she served as Head of the Food and Nutrition Department, Deputy Director, and Director of the National Center of Public Health, and for 16 years she was the National Consultant in Nutrition and Dietetics to the Ministry of Health. She represented Bulgaria on nutrition issues at the WHO Regional Office for Europe and was a member of numerous international expert groups.
Prof. Petrova is the author of over 160 scientific publications and has presented more than 180 papers at national and international scientific forums. She is a member of editorial boards of scientific journals, as well as national and international scientific societies in the fields of nutrition and dietetics.
