Endocrinologist
The endocrinology consulting offices of Nadezhda Hospital and Nadezhda Medical Center in Paradise Center provide diagnostic, follow-up and preventive examinations for patients with endocrine and metabolic diseases, or at increased risk of developing those diseases.
The endocrinologists, wo offer cosnuoltations at Nadezhda Hospital, are:
- Dr Svetlana Heder – works with adults;
- Dr Petya Angelova – works with adults;
- Dr Emil Nachev – works with adults.
The endocrinologists, who offer consultations at Medical Center Nadezhda in Paradise Center, level 3, are:
- Dr Vanya Despotova – works with children;
- Dr Svetlana Heder – works with adults.
The office uses ultrasound equipment for imaging diagnostics of the thyroid gland and the neck area but also works in close collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging ward that performs osteodensitometry – bone density assessment.

If you have an appointment for a child and they are not registered as a patient, a personal profile will be created for them on our in-hospital system at their first visit. This requires the parent/guardian to provide the Registrar’s Office with the child’s SSN. In the absence of a willingness to provide the PIN, the examination cannot take place.
Diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic diseases in adults
- Thyroid gland conditions - increased or decreased hormone secretion, thyroid gland nodules
- Hormonal disturbances that affect the menstrual cycle and fertility - polycystic ovary syndrome, insulin resistance, infertility caused by pituitary and hypothalamus conditions
- Diabetes mellitus - type 1 and type 2, as well as patients with gestational diabetes
- Obesity and metabolic syndrome - a complex of risk factors that predispose towards development of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases. That includes arterial hypertension, increased cholesterol levels, visceral obesity.

At the Pediatric Endocrinology office, diagnostics and treatment are provided, with respect to a wide range of endocrine and metabolic disorders in children:
- Growth and Development: Physiology and abnormalities
- Growth disorders: short and tall stature
- Disorders of pubertal development: Early and late puberty
- Ovarian and testicular dysfunction; hirsutism /pathological hair growth/; polycystic ovary syndrome
- Disorders of thyroid function: enlarged thyroid gland – screening, increased and decreased function, autoimmune diseases, thyroid ultrasonography
- Disorders of carbohydrate metabolism: Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, hypoglycemias, other metabolic disorders
