Endocrinologist
The endocrinology office at Nadezhda Hospital treats a wide array of endocrine and metabolic conditions – type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, diseases of the thyroid gland, the reproductive glands – the male and female gonads; it also performs diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis and some rare endocrine conditions that affect the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland.
Consultations for adults are provided by Svetlana Heder, M.D., Petya Angelova, M.D. and Emil Nachev, M.D. at Nadezhda Hospital and Medical Center Nadezhda in Paradise Center, floor 3.
The youngest patients of Nadezhda Hospital will be seen to by Vanya Despotova, M.D., a pediatric endocrinologist who performs examinations in Medical Center Nadezhda in Paradise Center, floor 3.

The office uses ultrasound equipment for imaging diagnostics of the thyroid gland and the neck area but also works in close collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging ward that performs osteodensitometry – bone density assessment.
The Endocrinology office is located next to the Clinical Laboratory that provides the opportunity for quick performance of a wide array of hormone tests.
The office provides outpatient diagnostics and treatment for the following conditions:
- Thyroid gland conditions - increased or decreased hormone secretion, thyroid gland nodules
- Hormonal disturbances that affect the menstrual cycle and fertility - polycystic ovary syndrome, insulin resistance, infertility caused by pituitary and hypothalamus conditions
- Diabetes mellitus - type 1 and type 2, as well as patients with gestational diabetes
- Obesity and metabolic syndrome - a complex of risk factors that predispose towards development of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases. That includes arterial hypertension, increased cholesterol levels, visceral obesity.

- Diseases related to male infertility – testicular testosterone production or spermatogenesis dysfunctions
