Lactation consultant
At the Lactation outpatient office of Nadezhda Medical Centre at Paradise Center, consultations are provided to support mothers in overcoming various difficulties and challenges during breastfeeding – incorrect positioning of the infant at the breast and difficulties with latching, insufficient breast milk supply, ineffective sucking, breastfeeding refusal, hyperlactation, and others. Consultations are also recommended for women experiencing physical problems related to breastfeeding and lactation – milk stasis (milk retention), breast pain and engorgement, nipple trauma, and others.
Lactation consultant
The lactation consultant at Nadezhda Medical Centre, Paradise Center, 3rd floor, is:
- Tamara Marinova
During consultations, it is recommended that you attend together with your baby, so that the causes of breastfeeding difficulties can be identified and specific practical recommendations for overcoming them can be provided. If you wish, your partner may also be present.
At the Lactation outpatient office, you can rely on support in the following situations:
- In the first days at home – immediately after discharge from the hospital, when many women often feel uncertain about breastfeeding;
- If you have difficulties with positioning your baby for breastfeeding and with latching;
- If you suspect that your baby is sucking ineffectively and taking in too little breast milk;
- In cases of breastfeeding refusal – the so-called “nursing strike”;
- In cases of reduced breast milk supply or hyperlactation – excessive breast milk production;
- If you have milk stasis (milk retention) in certain areas of the breast – this may occur due to lack of adequate rest, if the baby is not sucking effectively, or if breastfeeding is infrequent. It can lead to pain, redness, localised breast engorgement, chills, and fever.
